Gastric Bypass (Roux-en-Y)
The gastric bypass is a procedure consisting of forming a new stomach with a capacity of 2.30-4 ounces (70-100mls), with the posterior section of the small intestine and the distal portion connected to the new stomach (anastomosis 1) and the remaining portion will be connected to the small intestine ( anastomosis 2), creating a new feeding circuit, which will result in weight loss, due to the reduction of food portions and the lack of absorption of nutrients by the creation of a smaller surface to absorb fat.
